Dr. Sabina Mosso-Taylor, Principal

Dr. Mosso-Taylor is a 37-year veteran educator who has spent her last 7 years at Jackson Creek Elementary. She was fortunate to have had the opportunity to open JCE in 2017. A native New Yorker, she moved to Columbia, SC in 1995 where she has worked in RSD2 for 29 years as a special education teacher, curriculum specialist, Magnet Lead teacher, and principal. She obtained her undergraduate degree (1988) from the University of Tennessee at Martin in Elementary Education and Special Education. Her master's degree (2003) and Ph.D. (2013) were from the University of South Carolina in Early Childhood Education where she also completed her elementary principal's certification (2013). Dr. Mosso-Taylor was named the 2024-2025 Elementary Principal of the Year by the South Carolina Association of School Administrators. In 2023 she received national recognition by being named a Champion of Equity - School Leadership Category - by the American Consortium for Equity in Education. She is married to Daniel Taylor and together they have three sons, Adam, Carson, and Evan, and an adorable Maltipoo named, Murphy! Dr. Mosso-Taylor is an avid reader, loves the outdoors, and enjoys good food, and jazz music.

Patrina Smith, Assistant Principal

Greetings! I am Patrina Smith and I am delighted to be a part of the Jackson Creek family as an assistant principal. I have more than 25 years of experience in education, spanning elementary and middle school levels, with over 20 years with Richland 2. I have my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from South Carolina State University and my Master’s in Education (Divergent Learning) from Columbia College. I also have my Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Administration from South Carolina State University. Prior to my arrival at Jackson Creek, I was an assistant principal at Joseph Keels Elementary and Muller Road Middle School. In 2023 I was named the SCABSE Elementary Assistant Principal of the Year. In my spare time I love to watch crime shows, shop, try different foods, and listen to live music! I enjoy impacting the lives of children and look forward to an exceptional year with the students, faculty, staff, and community of Jackson Creek Elementary!
