OUR MISSION:
To connect hearts and minds in an effort to reach the highest level of student achievement.
Jackson Creek Elementary operates as a school-wide AVID school (K-5th grade). AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. AVID is grounded in a Growth Mindset, meaning that all children have strengths and can learn to build on those strengths.
AVID provides a framework of learning through a variety of strategies, referred to as WICOR.
WICOR stands for:
- Writing to learn
- Inquiry
- Collaboration
- Organization
- Reading to learn
Through these strategies students will learn to navigate their academic world successfully today, as well as to prepare them for success in middle school and beyond. Every teacher will be trained in AVID.

Culturally Relevant Teaching
Another strand of AVID and also a core tenant of how we will operate at Jackson Creek Elementary is through Culturally Relevant Teaching. Culturally Relevant Teaching ensures that teaches have the skills, attitudes and dispositions necessary to teach all students by building on their funds-of-knowledge, and utilizing home language and culture as sources of strength to create meaningful and engaging lessons and making curriculum relevant to students’ lives.
Jackson Creek Elementary is proud to be a "7 Mindsets" School! We believe in using the 7 Mindsets to help us become the best we can be. Each month we focus on a different Mindset, and explore how that Mindset can help us achieve our goals. The 7 Mindsets are:

Relationships
Relationships are at the heart of all that we do at Jackson Creek Elementary. We know that this is a critical component of teaching and learning. Therefore, the faculty and staff of JCE will work diligently to get to know our students and their families, to reach out to the JCE community and provide many opportunities for families and community to participate in at Jackson Creek. We welcome your thoughts and ideas as we work to create a vibrant and successful school community.
